So you know what you're about when it comes to bear making!

Because of the high standards that are continually being surpassed each year at the Sydney Teddy Bear Fair, it is near impossible to split the difference on the entries from a workmanship point of view- so where to next?

"Let the people decide the Winners!"

This section of the competition is judged BY THE PEOPLE, it is open to everyone, as all entries are to be photographs and can be printed or digital. As no credit will be awarded for artist status (i.e., no difference between novice and professional) all entries are considered equal. Please see the below Terms and Conditions for criteria.

As no formal judging will take place, there will be no critique sheets available for these entries, just the "People's Choice".

All entries will be considered for finalist selection by a judging panel based on appeal, creativity, proportion, technique and uniqueness. Once selected, finalists will be announced and open to public voting on www.sydneyteddybearfair.com

Bear Categories:

1. Artist Bear – Traditional or Contemporary under 6 inches,
2. Artist Bear – Traditional or Contemporary over 6 inches,
3. Modern Bear - Realistic and/or Composition of any size.
4. Dressed/Character or Fantasy Bears of any size,
5. Theme diorama – Bear tableaux. Diorama size no larger than 14"x 28",
6. Furry Friends – Animal of any size.

Entry fee: $20 per entry

	Each entrant is permitted to enter as many times as they like in any category,
	Please note the number of entries in a category in the circle corresponding,
	Entry fees can be made by direct deposit, Paypal, cheque or money order.
	Grand Crystal Trophy awarded for the Grand Champion- the entry with the highest total vote,
	Crystal Trophies awarded for Winners of each category and Medals for each of the Category finalists.

Method of Selection

*All entries will be considered for selection for 5 Finalists spots in each Category by a Jury of 5.

*Once selected they will be announced and published on the Official Fair website for public viewing and voting from 5 February - 15 March 2009.

*All entrants will be informed of the Finalists in the competition.

*Each voter may vote for only one finalist in each category.

*All the finalist's photographic entries will be on display at the Fair for public viewing and announcement of the category winners and Grand Champion.

*Category Winners and The Grand Champion will be awarded by total number of votes received from the public votes.

& agree with them.

Terms & Conditions

1. All application forms and entries (whether hard copy or digital format) are to be received no later than 1 February 2009.

2. Format: All photographs are to be of the entry only with a plain background (no patterns or settings) of any colour, if entered into Diorama Category only props and decorations involved in the entry are allowed. Printed pictures will be accepted.

Printed pictures are to be sized no less than 8 x 10 inches and

must be printed onto photo quality paper with pigment inks.

Digital pictures can be emailed and are to have;

a file size of no less than 200kb (no more than 500kb)

@ 300dpi, be 8 x 10 inches and

saved as jpeg format file with category number and artist surname, then first name as the file name eg, 4citizenchris.jpeg

if you are entering more than one entry per category please add entry number after your name eg, 4citizenchris2.jpeg

only one photo per entry is required.

3. No late entries can be accepted.

4. The Judges’ decision for finalists selection is final.

5. The public vote for winners is absolute.

6. All entries are to be the sole design and work of the entrant made between April 2008 and February 2009.

7. Any entries that have previously won a first prize in any other Bear Competition will not be accepted.
